CO2 Emissions from Fuel Combustion 2018 Highlights 3.5MB
Free

In recognition of the fundamental importance of energy-related environmental issues, the latest information on CO2 emissions from fuel combustion – level, growth, source and geographic distribution – will be essential to analysts and policy makers in many international fora. To provide input to and in support of the UN Conference of Parties, which will be meeting in Katowice, Poland, from 3 to 14 December 2018, the IEA is making available for free download the “Highlights” version of its CO2 Emissions from Fuel Combustion.

This annual publication contains, for more than 150 countries and regions:

  • estimates of CO2 emissions;
  • selected indicators such as CO2/GDP, CO2/capita and CO2/TPES;
  • a decomposition of CO2 emissions into driving factors;

Emissions are calculated using IEA energy databases and the default methods and emission factors from the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.
