This Policy Pathway, jointly produced by the International Energy Agency and the Institute for Industrial Productivity, develops the critical steps for policy makers implementing energy management programmes for industry.
Increasing the competitiveness of industry is a key goal for most governments. Improving the efficiency of energy use within industry is a proven, cost-effective mechanism for increasing competitiveness, while simultaneously raising national productivity and strengthening energy security. The Policy Pathway builds on lessons learned from country experiences and provides actionable guidance on how to plan and design, implement, evaluate and monitor energy management programmes for industry.
The International Energy Agency demonstrates energy savings of at least 26% are possible in industry through effective policy support to raise awareness of opportunities, build technical expertise, increase access to capital, and ultimately reduce perceived risk.
